Realtors are no strangers to postcards. In fact, they’re so much a staple offline marketing method I think every Realtor is issued a quota when they receive their license.
Unfortunately, no points are awarded for crappy cards. No A for effort, either, because crappy cards can hurt your brand.
You know the kind of postcard I’m speaking of… (dare ye look?!)

Now, we previously talked about how to get more online traffic from your business card and you can definitely apply the same approach to your postcard mailings.
Moving from the mold
But, let’s break the mold a bit here. Realtors have typically used marketing mailings to promote Just Listed/Sold and the like to farm areas but there’s no saying that’s the only kind of mailing you have to do… or the only people you should mail.
Seth Godin calls them sneezers, I like to call them influencers. These are folks that have an audience. In this case, they may be bloggers, reporters, speakers, association chairpersons, etc. You get the idea which is…
These folks hold sway with an audience and can give you leveraged credibility and a bucket load of traffic to your site.
Lumpy breaks ice
Go ahead and break the ice by mailing these folks. Whether it be a witty postcard or lumpy mail, reaching out to influencers is a good way to build your contact sphere and even generate traffic.
Have you ever received a cool mailing that caught your attention?

I remember those postcards when I first started with my broker, thinking to myself what is this garbage with the “i’ve moved” copy.
To be honest, the group that I work for still mails out Just Listed/Sold postcards to EVERY single house they sell and they actually do quite well. Plain, simple and hideous at the same time.
