If you’re using a blog then you might want to follow these steps to converting more search engine traffic with your content.
Might as well get used to the fact that not all of the content you add to your blog is going to be a winner.
In fact, most of your content probably won’t do much for you in terms of business generation. It’s the 80/20 rule, right? 20% of your posts will be responsible for 80% of your blog’s traffic and business.
It makes sense then to optimize the 20% of your content that does work for you so you get even bigger wins.
Peek inside the real estate mind
Now, the wins really come when you speak to the thoughts that are already floating through the minds of your visitors. The quickest way to get a glimpse inside their minds is to take a look at the search terms people are using to find your highest trafficed pages.
Those are the questions that are in their minds before they hit your site. And, of course, they’re coming to your site because they suspect you might be able to answer those questions.
Evaluate your pages
Take a look at those pages. How relevant is your page to what your visitor wanted to know? Are you addressing those search term queries? Make sure you do because the more that content speaks to their query then the more they’re going to explore your site, fill out a form, or pick up the phone.
Making your content relevant isn’t that difficult, either. You may need to re-write a section of your post and expand on a few points, or take the most common questions and add a FAQ section at the end of your post. Each FAQ could be a new post in itself, so you could even place the FAQ index in your high-traffic page, and link each one to other posts.
Sure, there’s a bit of work involved here but when you consider that someone clicked a search engine link to your site because they suspected you had an answer… all you have to do is answer it and you’re a step closer to winning their hearts and minds.
